The veneers we market in this section of our website are sourced from Northern Hemisphere suppliers who offer their local veneer species and are accurately named and usually exotic to Australia. Since white settlement in Australia the naming of wood species reflected the ignorance of the day of new world species. This results in eucalypts being called Tasmanian oak. An oak is a Quercus. We have several pines which are not true pines - Pinus species, Wollomi, Huon etc. Our cedar is not a true cedar and our maples are not true maples. In reality the majority of trade names for wood species in Australia are misnomers. We would love to offer retail packages of our local species. Please contact if you can help.

Made from Italian hardwood evenly saturated with dye, these veneer sheets are suitable for marquetry, furniture accents, or projects such as jewellery boxes and clocks. Generally free of cracks and knots, the 0.025" (0.635mm) thick sheets have been trimmed to provide straight edges and are sequence matched for consistent color and grain. Supplied in a package of five sheets of 7 1/2" × 12" (190 x 300mm) veneer - just over 3 sq. ft.(0.278SqM) in total). As with most natural materials, minor variations in color, texture and other characteristics are to be expected.
