ADJUSTING HEAD DIAMETER FOR KNIFE RESTORATIONS WITH A SIZE MISS-MATCH -  A WORK AROUND

Assuming you have to replace rivets in a knife and the head diameter of the rivet is not a sweet fit to the existing head recess in your knife handle scale, this work around is a possible method.

Chuck your rivet in either a drill press or even a hand held drill with a jacobs chuck. If using a hand held ideally hold the drill in a vice.

Run the drill and with either a fine metal working file or an abrasive paper reduce the diameter of the head to suit the recess in your handle or, in the case of new work, to suit the diameter of the only drill you have to hand.

Research brad point drills when making a crisply drilled recess in handle matetrials.
