Simply angle the edge of the plane blade or chisel blade with the sliding »T-piece«, pull the blade out to your sharpening stone and tighten the clamping knob, now you can finely adjust the cutting angle with the rear micro-adjustment knob. With a few simple steps, you can get accurate and repeatable results. Using the setting gauge always gives you the same angle when grinding. The setting gauge is marked with the angles 20°, 25°, 30° and 35°. If you want a micro bevel on the edge, simply turn the knob further, one turn of the knob will move the angle just under one degree further.
