Onians is the senior woodcarving tutor at the City and Guilds of London Art School, where, since 1978, he has been teaching courses in carving. Five chapters deal with carving various parts of the body. Clay modeling is used to graphically demonstrate how bones, muscles and fat contribute to the outward shape.
